HONOR's magic "Sportography" captures speed and future

Sports are one of the most difficult things to capture with any camera, especially a smartphone camera. At least that was the case until HONOR developed truly stunning "sports photography," a technology that captures and immortalizes fleeting sports moments with unprecedented clarity and precision, making every shot a new personal best.

In the video below, Cecilia Belder, an international elite sabre fencer, demonstrates her incredible speed. Belder is fast as a bullet - and so is the amazing AI-powered HONOR Falcon camera system that captured her so beautifully and with such amazing accuracy and clarity. You've probably never seen a smartphone photo like this.

The upgraded, professional-grade Falcon Camera System in the HONOR Magic6 Series takes photography to a whole new level of speed. Shape memory alloy actuators deliver industry-leading focusing performance, and the combination of autofocus and optical image stabilization allows you to track and stabilize even the most challenging shots.

And that's not all. The all-new Magic6 Pro includes a sports portrait algorithm that allows users to capture stunning bokeh portraits even at competition speeds. This is because it captures multiple frames and skillfully combines them into a single optimized image. Binocular depth estimation and sports portrait segmentation are used to precisely adjust the background for a natural bokeh effect. Images are also calibrated in multiple frames to achieve realistic light and shadow detail and accurate depth-of-field relationships. All of this is done instantaneously, delivering beautifully detailed and exciting images without compromise.

The Magic6 Pro may look like an ordinary cell phone, but when it comes to photography it is exceptional.

One of the Magic6 Pro's key features is its telephoto lens. Telephoto lenses are the lenses most used by many sports photographers, and HONOR's amazing 180MP Periscope telephoto camera offers professional-level capabilities previously unthinkable on a smartphone.

The telephoto lens supports 2.5x optical zoom, 5x/10x sensor zoom, and 100x super resolution. This means that it is ideal for capturing extremely clear images from the tiniest detail to the most expansive scenes. This clarity is thanks to the industry's largest 1/1.49" telephoto sensor, which has a wide aperture of f/2.6 and delivers 400% better light sensitivity than its nearest competitor. This large sensor is packed with pixels and can composite 16 pixels at a time into a superpixel with an equivalent pixel size of 2.24µm, making it nimble in even the most challenging lighting conditions.

Magic6 Pro also features the industry's first customized HDR sensor, a 1/1.3" HDR sensor with 800% more dynamic range. This means superior accuracy in both color and brightness, especially for highlighted objects. It is also combined with HONOR's groundbreaking High Dynamic Range Imaging Enhancement, which uses HONOR's proprietary auto-exposure algorithm to provide a seamless transition between dramatically different lighting conditions.

As if this were not enough, the Magic6 Pro features the industry's largest variable aperture for ultimate light control. With the ability to automatically or manually set the aperture to f/1.4 or f/2.0, the photographer has complete control over depth of field and can capture 22% more light than an IMX989 f/1.9 lens with a 1-inch sensor. This means sharp, crisp images with excellent detail in both the foreground and background.

When it comes to sports photography, Honor's R&D team is just getting started, and with the latest generation of AI motion sensing in the Magic6 Pro, they are pushing the limits of photography with the power of AI. With over 8 million training data sets from 10 different sports, users can capture not only stretching, running, and jogging, but also splashing drops of water, the graceful movements of a dancer, the exhilarating action of martial arts, and even the flash of fencing.

Dr. Weilong Hou, HONOR's image processing technology expert, explains: "HONOR is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography innovation and providing users with a best-in-class shooting experience. We believe that the next big trend in smartphone photography will be sports photography, and our advancements and ambitions in AI-powered sports photography represent a giant leap forward, allowing users to enjoy a professional-grade photography experience on their smartphones."
