It looks like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 may be coming a little earlier this year. We had expected both models to be announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event in August as usual, but that event may instead be moved up a few weeks.

SamMobile is the source of this rumor, claiming that Samsung may hold its summer Unpacked event in the second week of July, possibly on July 10. He claims that this may be because the 2024 Summer Olympics, of which Samsung is a major sponsor, will be held from July 26 to August 11.

By moving the announcement up several weeks compared to last year's Unpacked, it means that Samsung could potentially use one of the world's biggest sporting events to promote its latest phone to billions of people. In the past, Samsung has given away special editions of Samsung's latest phones to Olympic athletes.

Hosting the launch before the Olympics also means that Samsung will not be competing with the event for headlines and attention, as the Galaxy S24 featured heavily at the 2024 CES, despite rumors suggesting otherwise.

This is not the first time Samsung has moved up its Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung's Galaxy S24 launch event took place in January of this year instead of February; the Galaxy Z Fold 5 was also announced a few weeks earlier than usual, with Samsung dropping its usual August launch event for July 26. It would be extra appropriate if this rumored early launch is also Samsung's announcement of when the Galaxy Ring will be available. Given that the device will be very health and fitness focused, it makes sense that Samsung would tie it to the Olympics in some way.

There are reports that we may see something of a design overhaul for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 itself. Rumors claim that the Z Flip 6 may have a larger cover display, better camera, and more durable screen design. On the other hand, the Z Fold 6 may have a wider cover display, a square aspect ratio for the internal display, and an Ultra edition. There may also be a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra model.
