The start of a new month means a new collection of movies on Netflix, the world's most popular streaming service, and the March 2024 lineup does not disappoint.

This month Netflix is focusing on original films, including "Spaceman" starring Adam Sandler and "Damsel" starring Millie Bobby Brown. All five films on this list scored 90% or higher, attesting to their quality.

In "The Devil in the Blue Dress," a tense mystery thriller with "who did it" at its core, Denzel Washington plays Ezekiel "Easy" Rawlins, a World War II veteran in need of work. After being introduced to a private detective (Tom Sizemore) at a bar, Easy is assigned to help search for a missing woman, who happens to be the fiancée of a mayoral candidate who is considered a potential winner in the election.

Filled with classic film noir tropes, "The Devil in the Blue Dress" follows the genre's handbook, but succeeds through likable characters (Washington is consistently excellent) and a deft sense of style. The core mystery also has enough reveals and clues to keep the audience hooked until the very end, when all is revealed. Don Cheadle also deserves a special mention for his portrayal of Mouse, a memorable character from Easy's past.

Based on actor Greg Sestero's memoir of the same name, "The Disaster Artist" chronicles the making of the infamous 2003 film "The Room," often cited as the worst movie ever made. The Room is a truly awful film, but it is also a prime example of a "so bad it's good" movie, thanks to its illogical direction, hilarious acting, and a script filled with bizarre and famous lines. And "Disaster Artist" celebrates "Room" by taking a sincere look at the friendship between the stars and how this flop movie was made.

Dave Franco plays Greg, an aspiring actor who moved to LA in the late 90s with dreams of making it big. In an acting class, he meets the eccentric Tommy Wiseau (played and directed by Dave's brother James Franco). Attracted by Tommy's quirky personality, the two become friends and decide to make their own movie. The resulting film is called "the 'Citizen Kane' of bad movies," but it is unquestionably funny, and this comedic production process is equally enjoyable.

A cautionary tale for those who think they can escape their past, this thriller with a twist stars Jason Bateman, Rebecca Hall, and Joel Edgerton (who also wrote and directed the film). It begins with a seemingly perfect couple, Simon (Bateman) and Robin (Hall), but their lives are thrown into turmoil when an acquaintance from Simon's youth suddenly appears, revealing buried secrets.

"The Gift" is great for several reasons. First, the performances of the three central characters are excellent. Bateman plays a career-minded city slicker, Edgerton as Gordo, Simon's high school classmate who seems friendly at first but is not necessarily resurrected out of the goodness of his heart. The Gift is especially gripping thanks to its constantly shifting narrative. The entire film ties up very nicely with a shocking finale that leaves you with no idea what happens next or which characters to root for. A must-see thriller.

All four original "Hunger Games" movies are coming to Netflix this month. As a superfan of the franchise, I urge you to see all of them, but I highly recommend the second "Hunger Games: Catching Fire". However, this film is a direct sequel to "The Hunger Games" and is not recommended for first-time viewers.

While the historical accuracy of this film adaptation of the Bonnie and Clyde story can be disputed, there is no questioning the quality of the film.
