Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Leak Suggests Major Battery and Performance Upgrade - What We Know

Those who have been holding off on buying the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S24 are in luck. The first leak may have revealed some important details about the phone.

According to Twitter/X leaker @OraXda, the Galaxy S24 FE may have the same processor as the flagship Galaxy S24. In North America, that would be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and in the rest of the world, it would be the Exynos 2400.

Benchmarks for the Exynos 2400-equipped model are not yet available, but the Galaxy S24 model with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performed very well in benchmark tests. This model scored 2,235 single-core and 6,922 multi-core in Geekbench 6, as well as 120.4 fps in Wildlife Unlimited and 0:41 seconds in Adobe Premiere Rush video transcoding.

These numbers outperform the iPhone 15 in some areas, but not others. Apple's latest model scored an excellent 2,518 on the single-core benchmark and 0:24.9 on Adobe Premiere Rush. However, the iPhone 15 lagged behind in the multi-core test and Wild Life unlimited with scores of 6.179 and 72.1 fps. While there is more to performance than benchmark tests (and the A16 Bionic is a year older than the 8 Gen 3), it shows how well the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has caught up to Apple's performance specs.

@OraXda also claims that the S24 FE may have a 6.1" AMOLED display, which is slightly smaller than the Galaxy S24's 6.2", but admits there is no proof.

However, it is mentioned that it may have 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. Interestingly, the battery could be significantly larger, with Leeker claiming that we may see a 4,500 mAh battery pack instead of 4,000 mAh.

This is a very impressive array of features, given that the Galaxy S24 FE is supposed to be a lower-priced alternative to the flagship model and positioned between the Galaxy S24 and the mid-range Galaxy A55. However, as we saw with last year's Galaxy S23 FE, there are definitely some trade-offs.

That model was powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, had a static display refresh rate, and used cheaper materials (such as Gorilla Glass 5 instead of the stronger Victus 2). So while the Galaxy S24 FE may have a larger battery and the latest chipset, one would have to expect a less premium experience somewhere. Where that is, however, is currently not clear.

We don't know when the S24FE will be available, but we won't know until much later this year; judging from the October launch of the Galaxy S23 FE, we may have to wait a few months to hear more details.
