New Benefits Free for Google One Subscribers - But There's More Behind the Scenes

Google One subscribers report receiving an email from Google informing them that they have access to Fitbit Premium and Nest Aware at no additional charge. This is certainly a nice perk. However, at this time, it appears that this is only available to customers in the UK

One user on Reddit shared that the Fitbit Premium subscription, which offers "personalized health insights, over 1000 guided workout videos, and all the perks" at no additional charge He shared the contents of an email confirming this. The email also stated that the previous Fitbit Premium membership would be cancelled, that only one bill would be issued, and that the remainder of the membership would be refunded.

The email further mentioned "future plans," but did not mention what those plans were.

Another report indicates that users with a 2TB subscription to Google One are getting Nest Aware. Apparently, according to one comment, subscribers receive a basic Nest Aware plan with the option to receive Nest Aware Plus as an "add-on."

The Redditor who posted this photo claims to have never used Nest products before, so it appears that users will receive Nest Aware anyway.

Currently, Fitbit Premium costs £7.99 per month or £79.99 per year in the UK. The plan gives users detailed insight into their health, better health metrics, online workout plans, and other features.

Meanwhile, Nest Aware in the UK has a basic plan cost of £8 per month and an annual cost of £80, and the same is true in the US. This service provides users with up to 30 days of event history, making it easier to review old records. If a reader in the UK wanted to use both services at an annual cost of £159.99 per year, the cost would be substantial.

That Google would offer these additional features was certainly a surprise, but a pleasant surprise and certainly an added benefit for subscribers. The deal is currently limited to the UK, but one can only hope that it will be introduced in the US and other global markets soon.
