This gritty thriller made Netflix's top 10 list.

If you're looking for something thrilling to watch on Netflix this weekend, you might want to check out the streaming service's top 10 list. It's an adrenaline-pumping action thriller starring the late Angus Cloud.

"Your Lucky Day" appeared on Netflix earlier this month and currently sits at #5 on the streaming service's most-watched movies list. It is behind fantasy blockbuster "Damsel," "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," and indie thriller "Alone," but ranks high among Netflix's most popular movies, including "Boss Baby" and "Fear."

The thriller is one of the last works of Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away last summer, and is a great example of his talent. But "Your Lucky Day" is also a great film in its own right, and well worth adding to your Netflix watch list right now.

"Your Lucky Day" is a claustrophobic thriller set in a convenience store. While not particularly likable, the engaging characters fight tooth and nail to win the $156 million lottery prize, each proving that there is no line that won't be crossed when a life-changing windfall is on the table.

The film begins with Mr. Laird (Spencer Garrett) winning an eye-popping sum of money in the lottery. Instead of quietly leaving the store to cash in his vast fortune, he lets everyone know about his slice of good fortune. As a result, the dodgy character Sterling (Cloud) pulls out a gun and demands that Laird give him the ticket.

The ensuing standoff turns into a hostage situation, shots are fired, a SWAT team is dispatched to the store, and the police are called. But the situation becomes even more dangerous when the authorities decide they want money too. Your Lucky Day depicts how a dreamy scenario can quickly turn into a nightmare."

"Your Lucky Day" currently has an 86% score on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and critics seem to generally enjoy this fast-paced thriller. Audience scores, however, are significantly lower at 68%, suggesting that critics like the film a bit more than the audience.

Sheila O'Malley of RogerEbert.com described the film as "thrilling, suspenseful, with enough twists to keep you guessing," but noted that "the sharp comments are hard to ignore." IndieWire's Katie Rife, on the other hand, felt that the film "moves along at an engaging pace" but "doesn't reach its brutal potential as a thriller until two-thirds of the way through."

Bob Strauss of the San Francisco Chronicle gave it a generally favorable review. He wrote, "Writer/director Daniel Brown's crime drama has enough twists and turns to fill a beer case, most of them unpredictable but perfectly character-driven as they unfold.

Jenny Nulph of the Austin Chronicle was less enthusiastic, saying, "The heart of 'Your Lucky Day' is in the right place, but the execution is a bit loose." Nevertheless, the critical consensus was positive, praising the film's tight pacing and Cloud's performance.

"Your Lucky Day" also looks to be a great choice for the next Netflix movie night. Along with "Alone," another thriller that is making a big splash on the popular streaming service, it would make a stunning double feature.

From Angus Cloud's powerful performance, to a twisted story that is unpredictable until the end, to a biting social critique, "Your Lucky Day" has so much to offer, it has all the ingredients to rank on Netflix's best movies list.
