Nintendos 2 to be released in 2024 - and details of a new Mario Kart game.

The currently unannounced Nintendo Switch 2 will once again be released in 2024, reportedly with a new 3D Mario game and a new installment of the ever-popular Mario Kart series.

Zippo, which has a reasonable track record for leaking accurate information, has suggested through their blog that Nintendo's Switch follow-up (which they call Nintendo Switch 2 for clarity) will be released next year. The would-be insider did not offer an exact release date, but previous Switch 2 rumors suggested a late 2024 launch.

While we definitely recommend taking this information with a grain of salt, Zippo has leaked Nintendo games before, including Metroid Dread and Everybody 1-2-Switch, so there is reason to hope that this latest information is accurate.

Along with the reaffirmation that Switch 2 will be released in 2024, Zippo also stated that it will be released alongside a new 3D Mario game. This could be the long-awaited sequel to Mario Odyssey, or it could be an entirely new Mario experience.

While this latest indication that Nintendos 2 will launch in 2024 is certainly exciting, the bulk of Zippo's latest report is actually devoted to new details about the next game in the Mario Kart franchise.

The insider clearly suggests that the game is called Mario Kart X, the tenth in the series, and claims that it is "one of the most expensive games Nintendo has ever produced."

According to Zippo, a true showcase for Nintendo's new hardware The game will be visually striking and function as a

While each new Mario Kart game traditionally refreshes the franchise's classic kart racing formula with a new twist, Zippo has not indicated how Mario Kart X will differentiate itself from the best-selling Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Personally, I'd like to see the next "Mario Kart" take a cue from "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" by incorporating characters and songs from Nintendo's entire game catalog. We saw the series take its first steps in this direction with the addition of Link from "The Legend of Zelda" and Isabelle from "Animal Crossing" in the DLC for "Mario Kart 8," and we hope Nintendo takes it even further with the next main "Mario Kart" game. The series could be renamed Nintendo Kart and fully explore the other side of the Mushroom Kingdom.

However, it's still too early to plan a Mario Kart marathon with friends; according to Zippo, Mario Kart X will be released in 2025, in the second year of the Switch 2's life cycle.

According to Zippo, the next Mario Kart will coincide with Mario's 40th anniversary and be part of Nintendo's "massive plans" to celebrate it. The leaker emphasizes that "next year will focus on the launch of [Switch 2] along with its new 3D Mario game."
