Smartwatches Improve Health: Huawei Study Reveals Surprising Benefits

Can Smartwatches Really Help You Improve Your Health? Many of us are familiar with the perennial problem of knowing we need to get healthier, but not quite understanding how to get there (and how to stay motivated to do so). Huawei's latest study examines the power of smartwatches to effect change.

The study, which examined the general attitudes, awareness, and fitness habits of 8,000 participants across Europe, revealed an interesting paradox between our health aspirations and reality. While 82% of respondents expressed concern for their physical health, only half were satisfied with their current level of fitness, and a whopping 60% admitted to not getting regular checkups.

When asked which health indicators they most commonly monitor, the five most common were physical activity (57%), hydration levels (54%), sleep quality and duration (50%), heart rate (51%), and calories burned (45%). In contrast, important health indicators such as respiratory rate (37%), blood glucose (34%), body fat percentage (34%), and ECG readings (26%) are often overlooked.

But there is one game-changing element that this study reveals can absolutely play a huge role in your health journey: owning a smartwatch.

Smartwatch owners are not just casually looking at their devices; they are actively tracking key health indicators. They monitor heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, and calories about three times as diligently as those without smartwatches.

In addition, 47% of users say their smartwatches encourage them to exercise more often, 41% report increased exercise time, and 28% say they have changed their diet based on watch recommendations. As a result, 88% of survey respondents believe that their physical health has been improved by the smartwatch, and 86% affirm that their overall quality of life has improved.

The conclusion is clear: smartwatches are powerful tools for improving health. However, it is important to choose the right one with the ability to track key fitness indicators. Huawei's smartwatch series is designed to meet these needs, offering a variety of features to support the health and wellness journey.
