Even though Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could make an early appearance, Samsung's Galaxy S24 series is not expected until early 2024 However, SamMobile and Galaxy Club jointly revealed that the device will be a significant upgrade to the Galaxy S24 Ultra model and will be available in three sizes
Given that Ultra models have been a staple of Galaxy S launches since the Galaxy S20 was introduced in 2020, the fact that there will likely be three models is not that surprising
Nonetheless, sites have found evidence that the S24 Ultra is codenamed Muse3, suggesting the existence of a Muse1 and Muse2 (possibly a vanilla S24 and S24 Plus) This is good news for Plus fans, as reports in January suggested that Samsung was considering discontinuing the flagship model for 2024
For those who like to decipher device codenames and want to guess what "Muse" suggests, recent internal names include "Hubble" (S20), "Unbound" (S21), "Rainbow" (S22), and Diamond (S23)
More important than the range of devices is one particular upgrade tipped for the Galaxy S24 Ultra Both sites claim that this top-of-the-line model will feature a 5x optical zoom telephoto lens, presumably replacing the 10MP, 3x optical zoom of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
Assuming the rest remains the same, the new 5x zoom will be joined by a 10x sensor, limiting the gap that needs to be filled by digital zoom
The S23 Ultra already has a 200MP main sensor, placing it at the top of the list of best camera phones, so it seems unlikely that the sensor will change
Aside from this, we do not expect any major changes to the Galaxy S family next year beyond the annual Qualcomm chip upgrade The design, too, looks set to remain the same, with Samsung sticking to its winning formula
Of course, there is still plenty of time for more leaks to emerge, given that we are likely more than six months away from go-time Before that, we look forward to next month's Galaxy Unpacked event, where we fully expect to see the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Watch 6, and Galaxy Tab S9
