Accessibility features are an important part of choosing the best TV for you, and several Samsung TVs and computer monitors have just gotten serious accessibility upgrades.

Samsung has announced that SeeColors mode will be added to its 2023 TV and monitor lineup. Specifically, this feature will be added to Samsung's Neo QLED TVs, QLED TVs, OLED TVs, and smart monitors. SeeColors will also be available on Samsung's G95SC gaming monitor. This announcement comes after TÜV Rheinland granted "color vision accessibility" certification for Samsung's SeeColors feature.

SeeColors is intended for people with color blindness or other color-related visual impairments; SeeColors provides viewers with nine presets that change the level of red, green, and blue to help such visually impaired users distinguish colors no matter what they are looking at.

This is not the first accessibility feature targeting people suffering from color blindness in recent weeks. In a recent deep dive into the Android TV OS 14 beta, we learned that Google appears to be working on its own color-corrected accessibility feature, which will allow people with color blindness to better watch TV shows and movies on Google TV and Android TV

Like SeeColors, this feature will provide users with image presets that correct colors so that people with color blindness or similar problems can see colors clearly. However, in Google's potential feature, the presets are categorized by type of color blindness: there are three presets: Deuteranomaly (red-green), Protanomaly (red-green), and Tritanomaly (blue-yellow). There is also a grayscale option.

SeeColors has existed as a separate application since 2017. But now, this accessibility feature will be available directly from the accessibility menu of the target TV or monitor. All that is required is to download a software update for the target TV or monitor.

Samsung has not indicated when the software update will be available, but if not already available, it will be soon. Hopefully, this feature will be available by default in the accessibility menus of future Samsung TVs and monitors.
