AMD announced on Twitter that it will release its next Radeon RX 6000 graphics card on March 3, possibly introducing the mid-range RX 6700 XT GPU.

If you're having trouble finding a place to buy an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or can't get your hands on an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 when it is released later today, it looks like you won't have to wait long for a replacement.

AMD's tweet includes an image of the upcoming GPU, which looks very similar to previous render leaks of the rumored AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. With the high-end Radeon RX 6900 XT, Radeon RX 6800 XT, and Radon RX 6800 already in the works, a more affordable mid-ranger would be the next logical step.

In fact, AMD is rumored to have removed the Radeon RX 6700 XT from its CES presentation last month; YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead He suggested that this is to allow a little more time to adjust the card to compete with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 30 series.

It is also whispered that the RX 6700 XT will have the same 12GB of GDDR6 memory that the RTX 3060 has and will be fully released on March 18.

According to AMD, the new Radeon RX 6000 cards are based on the RDNA 2 architecture and Navi 22 processor. Like the Navi 21 GPU in the higher-end Radeon RX 6000 cards, this is built on an efficient 7-nanometer manufacturing process and supports ray tracing in games.

Since Nvidia's closest competitor appears to be the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, the price is expected to be closer to the $399 for the GeForce card. That may be the suggested retail price anyway. The ongoing supply shortage, combined with demand from the bot reseller market and digital currency miners, is currently driving graphics card inventory levels and prices completely out of whack.

Hopefully, the addition of another new card will spread out the demand and make it easier to buy. However, if this is the Radeon RX 6700 XT, its affordability may make it more susceptible to bulk purchases by the less cautious. We will have to wait and see.

At the very least, we won't have to wait long to see more details on this card; AMD's launch event will begin at 11 a.m. ET on March 3.
