Xbox Game Pass will get 20Bethesda games tomorrow - here's what's coming

With Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda now complete, gamers can expect ever closer cooperation between the two companies. It remains to be seen whether Bethesda's titles will be Xbox exclusives in the future, or whether Bethesda will make games based on Microsoft's licenses.

But we do know that starting tomorrow (March 12), 20 classic Bethesda titles will be added to Xbox Game Pass, ranging from the original "Doom" to the cult favorite "Fallout: New Vegas" to the ingenious shooter "Prey."

This information comes from the Xbox Wire blog and follows Microsoft's announcement earlier this week that a number of Bethesda games will soon be available on Xbox Game Pass. The final list seems to be a fairly eclectic mix of old and new titles:

This is pretty much all there is to know: a large number of Bethesda titles are coming to Xbox Game Pass and can be played starting tomorrow. Xbox Game Pass subscriptions cost up to $15 per month, but various Hundreds of games will be offered in rotation, from Microsoft's first-party titles like "Halo" and "Gears of War" to third-party hits like the "Yakuza" series.

Another piece of good news and bad news: 16 of the 20 games will be playable not only on Xbox consoles, but also on PC and Android. (See the Xbox blog for full platform availability. It gets a little more minuscule, depending on what you want to play.)

The bad news, however, is that not every one of these titles is new to Game Pass: fans of "Doom Eternal," "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," and "Wolfenstein" have have been able to play some of them for months: Youngblood, for example. Still, there is no reason why Bethesda cannot roll out additional titles in the coming months. Some of the 20 games listed will almost certainly be unplayable.

That said, there is definitely still room for additional titles. In the series mentioned above, "Fallout 3" would be welcome, as would the original "Rage," the "Doom" reboot, and "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus." But there is also no reason why Bethesda should dump its entire catalog at once. Now that Microsoft has taken Bethesda under its wing, it is unlikely that both companies will stop supporting Xbox Game Pass anytime soon.
