Gold Xbox Games 2021/4 - Free to Play

During the month of April, Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can download four new games on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. While this month's selection doesn't include big titles like "Halo" or "Gears of War," there are a few interesting titles that could be a nice distraction.

For those who don't know, Xbox staggers its Games with Gold releases from month to month: starting April 1, gamers will find Vikings: Wolves of Midgard and the Xbox 360 title Dark Void. Xbox One and Xbox Series X are backward compatible with Xbox 360 games.

Vikings will be available for download throughout the month, while Dark Void will be released on April 15. However, Truck Racing Championship and the Xbox 360 title Hard Corps: Uprising will be available for download starting April 16.

Truck Racing Championship will be available through May 15, while Hard Corps will end at the end of April.According to a blog post by Xbox marketing program manager Dean Shimabukuro, Sr. the above games are worth $129.96 value.

The overall quality of games releasing this month is mixed compared to the past; Vikings: Wolves of Midgard currently has a score of 64 on Metacritic. Our sister site Windows Central gave the game a 3.5/5, noting that they enjoyed the Diablo-like gameplay and Norse mythology, but not the quality of Activision Blizzard's iconic action role-playing hack-and-slash video game Rating.

Dark Void, released on the Xbox 360 in 2010, was also met with mixed reviews upon its release. The sci-fi shooter was praised for its vertical combat system, but ultimately scored a 59 on Metacritic. Sister publication GamesRadar+ gave the game three stars, praising the novel flight shooter but noting its boring storyline and uninspired cover-based shooting mechanics.

Truck Racing Championship didn't get much press attention when it launched in 2019, and reviews have been few and far between; Xbox Addict's Adam Dileva wasn't sure what to expect from the game, though, He found it enjoyable; it doesn't have the production value of Forza, but it's still a fun distraction. He gave the game a score of 75/100.

Hard Corps: Originally released in 2011, Uprising is a run-and-gun action game developed by Arc System Works, the development team behind Dragon Ball Fighters and the gorgeous Guilty Gear Strive, and is due out later this year. Naturally, GamesRadar+ praised the game's artistic excellence, but was scathing about the less-than-creative enemy designs and the difficulty level.

If you haven't downloaded the March Games with Gold yet, it's not too late: three games, Warface: Breakout, Viscous Attack Llama Apocalypse, and Port Royale 3, are still available. Warface and Port Roayle are available until the end of March, and Viscous Attack Llama Apocalypse until April 15.
