It's getting much harder to find Nintendo Switch inventory

Nintendo's president warned fans that the availability of the hybrid console will be difficult, as Nintendo Switch inventory could face the same semiconductor supply shortage as the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa told the Nihon Keizai Shimbun (via VGC) that while there are no problems with Switch production, ongoing demand and component shortages will be an obstacle. Furthermore, a solution does not appear to be in sight, and it may not be long before Switch consoles become as hard to find as new game hardware from Sony and Microsoft.

"We have secured the materials needed for the immediate production of semiconductors for the Switch," he told The Nikkei. However, demand has been strong since the beginning of the year in Japan and other countries, and there is a possibility that some retailers may experience shortages in the future."

"We have already secured the necessary materials for the production of switch semiconductors," he told the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

"It is difficult to know how to deal with this, but in some cases we may not be adequately prepared for orders."

Since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite have become a necessity to keep us entertained during incarceration. Animal Crossing: Animal Crossing, released in March 2020, quickly became a medium for players to interact and keep in touch with each other. It even spawned the web talk show "Animal Talking," hosted by Gary Whitta and featuring guests such as Danny Trejo, Selene Gomez, and Elijah Wood.

In addition to Nintendo IP, there are ports of popular titles like The Witcher 3, Skyrim, and Doom. The Switch's popularity continued to grow last year with the release of new titles that bridged the console's generational gap; the Switch's popularity has not waned and will continue to grow as we move into 2021 and beyond.
