Sources say that Prime Day 2021 will be moved to June to boost second quarter sales. Last year, the pandemic spiked Amazon's sales by about 40%. Therefore, Prime Day in June will help with financial comparisons to the second quarter of 2020.

Amazon denies the rumor, but the company does not leak Prime Day dates in advance. In addition to the new dates, rumors suggest that Prime Day 2021 could take place in the summer and fall. This would mean that Prime members would see a double dose of Amazon deals.

Prime Day is intended to increase consumption and Prime member sales. If the rumors of two Prime Days per month are true, it is unclear if the 48-hour holiday will continue into the summer and fall.

Last year, the pandemic led to an unprecedented surge in online shopping. As a result, Amazon faced significant operational and logistical challenges and postponed Prime Day to October 13 and 14.

Amazon Prime Day originally began in 2015 as a way to celebrate the company's 20th birthday. Since its inception, the faux holiday has grown into a 48-hour event celebrated in 18 countries. Traditionally, Prime Day has been celebrated in early to mid-July.
