"Mass Effect" Legendary Edition has gone gold and is now available for pre-order.

Director Mac Walters posted this good news on Twitter. In industry parlance, "gone gold" means ready for release, so it appears that the May 14 release date will still stand.

The trilogy to be included will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/Series S.

The PlayStation and Xbox versions are, of course, available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store respectively. They are available for $60/£60 each, and there is only one edition to choose from, so the decision to purchase is an easy one.

The PC version can be purchased from the Origin Store or Steam, both versions using publisher EA's own game distribution platform, Origin. Both are slightly cheaper than the console versions at $55/£55, but if you already own "Mass Effect 3," you can get it even cheaper on Steam: choose the "Mass Effect Legendary Edition - ME3 Owner Offer" bundle for an additional 17% off. off, bringing the price to just under $46/46 pounds

PC players can also check the PC requirements for the Legendary Edition on the official website. The one spec that stands out, whether in the minimum or recommended requirements, is the need for 120 GB of free space to install the game. Not only will the old games be ported directly to the new system, as noted in Bioware's blog post, the games will support 4K, 60 frames per second, load times will be reduced, balance and gameplay will be improved, and the experience will be consistent across the three games. This includes an overhaul of ME1's infamous Mako driving mechanics and improvements to the game's unintuitive weapon cooldowns.

This year should be a good one for "Mass Effect" fans. After the poorly received Mass Effect, the series was placed in a precarious position: Andromeda was released in 2017.
