The day you went for the Pc just got a release date — when you can get it

"Days Gone" is the latest PlayStation exclusive to be released for the PC. Like "Horizon Zero Dawn" and "Death Stranding" before it, "Days Gone" is no longer tied to PS5 and PS4, offering higher resolutions, better frame rates, and more controller options.

This information comes from the official PlayStation Blog.Days Gone is a (formerly) PS4 exclusive title debuting in 2019. Players take on the role of Deacon St. John (a survivor of the zombie apocalypse) and embark on a motorcycle journey in search of his missing wife. The PC version of the game will debut on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and "various retailers" outside of the two major platforms on May 18.

If you've already played the PS4 version of Days Gone, you may not need to purchase the PC version. However, Sony is highlighting three features not found in the PS4 version that may make the title worth playing on the best gaming PCs.

The support for ultra-wide monitors in "Days Gone" is arguably the biggest advance the PC version brings. This means that gamers with 21:9 monitors can play the entire game in a much wider aspect ratio than the console versions. This could theoretically give PC gamers a gameplay advantage, as they can spot (and fight) looming zombies with a wider field of view.

PC gamers will also be able to play "Days Gone" with a wider range of controllers, not just the DualShock 4 and DualSense.

"Play 'Days Gone' the way you want to play it. Use 1st party or 3rd party controllers, or run Broken Road for mouse or keyboard input."

If you've ever wanted to play a former Sony exclusive title with an Xbox controller, this is your big chance.

There is one drawback to this setup, however: pre-orders for the PC version of Days Gone are currently $50; the digital version of Days Gone for PS4 is $40, and physical versions are often cheaper than that. Paying $10 more than PlayStation fans for the same game may be a bit painful for PC gamers. On the other hand, the PC version also has quality-of-life features not found in the PS4 version; if $50 is absolutely unthinkable, you can always wait for Steam's sale sometime.

As for whether Days Gone is worth playing, Tom's Guide says "maybe." Our review of Days Gone was 3 stars out of 5, praising the well-designed open world but criticizing the frustrating gameplay.
