PS5 and PS4 gamers can play Resident Evil Village this weekend — here's how

PS4 and PS5 players can dive into Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village this weekend as part of a limited-time Early Access demo, available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. Sony console owners will have a total of two weekends until the demo is available.

Capcom announced the details at its Resident Evil showcase. PlayStation players can enjoy a 30-minute Village demo starting this weekend, April 17. The Castle demo will be available for another 30 minutes of gameplay on April 24. In addition to the game time being limited to a total of 30 minutes each weekend, actual access to the demo is limited to 8 hours.

Village's demo will open on Saturday, April 17 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET and will close on Saturday, April 18 at 1 a.m. PT/4 a.m. ET. European gamers can participate from Sunday, April 18 at 4 p.m. PT until Monday, April 19 at 12 a.m. ET.

The Castle demo will continue next weekend, streaming live on Saturday, April 24 at 5pm PT/8pm ET and ending on Sunday, April 25 at 1am PT/4am ET. In Europe, the event will open at 4 pm BST / 5 pm CEST on April 25 and close at 12 am BST / 1 am CEST on April 26.

You have 8 hours to play, but remember that you only have 30 minutes of in-game time to explore in each demo.

Following the Early Access weekend, anyone can participate in the demo in May. Again, the gameplay limit is 60 minutes. You can explore both the village and castle areas, but how you divide your time is up to you. As the website points out, you can press "continue" as many times as you like within the allotted 60 minutes.

The demo will be available for 24 hours on all platforms where the game will be released. It will begin on Saturday, May 1 at 5pm PT/8pm ET in North America and Sunday, May 2 at 1am BST/2am CEST in Europe.

It's a little complicated, but in short, PS4 and PS5 players will be able to try out the game for 8 hours, 30 minutes at the Village this weekend and 30 minutes at the Castle next weekend. At the beginning of next month, anyone will be able to participate in exploring either the Village or the Castle, or both, for 60 minutes out of a 24-hour period.

Resident Evil Village will be available on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Google Stadia on May 7.
