Baldur's Gate 3 Loaded Dice "Curse" fixed in latest update

Baldur's Gate 3 is in Early Access on Steam, and Larian Studios is working tirelessly to perfect the gameplay. The latest update targets loads of dice, which were added in the February patch.

This will be good news for those who have felt unfairly targeted by the wrath of the RNG gods.

Patch 4 introduced the Load Dice feature with a view to "smoothing out the extremes of the bell curve when rolling dice."

Basically, if you are unlucky or too lucky, the natural order of the universe is restored by guaranteeing a good roll. Alternatively, if the player enjoys a winning streak, the stakes will be bad. This does not stop players from complaining, and Larian's hotfix #10 is intended to address this.

"This fix is presented to all of you (and us) who have clearly offended the RNG gods in a previous life and have been cursed to fail dice rolls at every turn," the update reads.

The studio notes that even after patch 4, it has seen "dice being harsh, cursed, rigged, and someone is saying that the RNG is downright evil."

Therefore, loaded dice only affect the RNG in favor of the player. So if you are high on a streak of good luck, you don't have to wait over your shoulder for your impending punishment. On the plus side, if you can't shake off the bad luck, you are guaranteed a break with a decent payout.

Loaded dice can be toggled on and off, so you don't have to get involved at all if you don't want to. You can adjust this feature in the gameplay settings.

The patch notes also include a stability fix for "crashing when examining deactivated entities (so that the bullet disappears)" and several changes and fixes to the Larian launcher.

Baldur's Gate 3 launched in Early Access for PC on Steam last September, and Larian Studios has remained vague about the final release date, saying it will be "ready when ready."

As was the case with Divinity: Original Sin 2. Until then, however, we must sit tight and wait for an official announcement from the developer.
