Battlefield 6 is set to launch this holiday season, and developer DICE has teased the first official announcement. After screenshots of the trailer leaked (in sketches) last week, fans were eager to see the real thing.

The latest "Battlefield 6" blog post hints at a number of features of the upcoming title, including the impending reveal. Interestingly, there also seems to be mention of the rumored PS5 and Xbox Series X console exclusivity, with the game being released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, skipping PS4 and Xbox One altogether.

"We are play testing every day right now. We are refining, balancing, and creating the best Battlefield we can. I can assure you it's a bold step. It has everything we love about Battlefield and takes it all to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles with unprecedented player numbers and mayhem. All of it brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.

"Get ready for "coming soon," Gabrielsson added.

No official release date is given, but from the tone, it can't be far off; Battlefield and Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson has said the reveal is "a week or two away," which seems consistent with DICE's teaser.

In terms of next-gen exclusivity, it certainly sounds like DICE is deliberately avoiding any reference to current-gen consoles. However, the developer has not stated it explicitly, which seems to confirm what we've heard, but we shouldn't jump the gun just yet.

The developer also took the opportunity to announce a new "Battlefield" mobile game, scheduled for release in 2022. The title, developed in conjunction with Industrial Toys, is a standalone game for mobile and tablet devices. Described as an "authentic skill-based experience," it is currently in a testing period for release.
