If you've been waiting for "Uncharted 4" to hit 60 fps, that day is almost upon us.

Instead of taking advantage of the PS5's backwards compatibility to refresh with features like Game Boost, an unofficial solution was offered instead.

With the PS5's Game Boost feature, PS4 games have been refreshed on the next generation console, with improvements such as faster load times and higher frame rates.

Titles like Ghost of Tsushima and God of War have already benefited from this in terms of frame rate and resolution; Sucker Punch's Samurai game runs at 60 fps on PS5 and God of War is playable at 60 fps in 4K.

The unofficial Uncharted 4 mod for PS4 is up there in terms of frame rate, but the 540p resolution is less than ideal.

Modder illusion has found a way to run Uncharted 4 on PS4 at 60 fps, which he details on his blog. However, in order to get a stable frame rate, resolution is sacrificed.

Unlike the unofficial "Bloodborne" mod, which powered the game with the amazing combo of 4K/60fps, the Uncharted 4 mod combines frame rate with a 540p resolution.

The mod was done on the base PS4 console, although in comments on their YouTube video playing the game with the mod enabled, Illusion said the PS4 Pro can likely manage 60fps at 720p "in gpu-limited scenes", console is "still cpu-limited in combat."

That's not the only negative to consider. The mod also causes the game to suffer many glitches. An example of this can be seen in the following MP1st screenshot.

The site tested the mod on a PS4 console and states that there are "many graphical glitches" at 540p/60fps. However, the mod maintains 60 fps during cutscenes and combat. Again, he speculates that the PS4 Pro is almost certainly better suited to squeeze out higher resolutions than the PS4 with the mod.

Whether Naughty Dog will follow Sucker Punch's lead and offer PS5 players a next-gen makeover remains to be seen; a five-year-old game may not be worth it, but on the other hand many PlayStation gamers are fans of the PlayStation exclusive series But until that happens, fans will have to wait and see. But until that happens, fans will continue to tinker.
