The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti release date issue continues, with VideoCardz reporting that the announcement of the upcoming GPU has been pushed back several weeks.

Nvidia appears to have pushed back its planned (and previously leaked) May 18 announcement to May 31; VideoCardz also reported a June 2 review ban date, suggesting that the GPU will not be available for sale until early June. Nvidia is planning to release the RTX 3080 Ti and along with a less expensive GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, which is likely to be announced.

Previous RTX 3080 Ti release date leaks indicated that the full launch would be in May, so hopefully this short delay will not upset hopeful PC owners too much. the RTX 3070 Ti review release date is set for June 9, so it is expected to launch about a week after the RTX 3080 Ti. RTX 3070 Ti is expected to be released about a week after RTX 3080 Ti.

Both cards will feature Nvidia's Lite Hash Rate (LHR) feature, which limits the effectiveness of cryptocurrency mining while not affecting gaming performance. The idea, similar to Nvidia's ill-fated first attempt at a mining limiter with the RTX 3060, is to make the GPU less attractive to miners, thereby increasing the inventory available to the average PC builder. [As for specs, this latest report confirms what we have already heard about the RTX 3080 Ti: it uses 12GB of GDDRX memory, less than the originally rumored 20GB, but much more than the 10GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 higher memory bandwidth. [8GB of memory is significantly less than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060's 12GB, so the RTX 3070 Ti will also rely on bandwidth upgrades. However, the RTX 3070 Ti uses upgraded GDDR6X VRAM instead of the RTX 3060's GDDR6.

That's all well and good, but it remains to be seen how easy it will be for potential customers to actually purchase these cards. The bigger issue, however, is the global chip shortage that is slowing the supply of everything from GPUs to PS5s to even new cars. [There is little to suggest that the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti will escape this production headache.
