Earlier this year, the next-generation Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced during Sony's PS5 "State of Play" live stream. And now, six months after its release, the game will be available exclusively on the PS5 console.

This PS5 version of "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is a refined version of the 1997 JRPG classic for the PS4, along with a new expansion called "Intergrade". This expansion content will be titled "Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade" and will be bundled with the port to next-generation consoles.

When Final Fantasy VII Remake was first released on PS4 in April 2020, it was confirmed that the game would be available exclusively on PlayStation for at least a year. So naturally, many assumed that the remake would be released on PC and Xbox platforms this spring. However, judging by the splash screen in the game's final trailer, it appears that Sony has managed to extend the exclusivity deal for another six months.

The PS5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake and its expansion, Intergrade, will be released on June 10, which means the title will not be playable on PlayStation hardware until January 2022 at the earliest. At that point, PC and Xbox players who have patiently waited a year and a half while avoiding spoilers will deserve some sort of medal.

The upgrade of "Final Fantasy VII Remake" to next-gen consoles has already caused considerable confusion and controversy: in March, the PS4 version was given to all PlayStation Plus subscribers, but at the same time it was announced that this version was not eligible for the free upgrade to PS5 It was announced that this version was not eligible for the free upgrade to PS5.

Those who purchased the game digitally or physically on PS4 will receive a free upgrade to the PS5 version in June. However, they will not have access to the "Intergrade" expansion content, which allows them to play as the fan-favorite character Yuffie and unlocks a new story chapter. This DLC can be purchased for an additional $20 or included in the aforementioned $70 bundle, which includes both the main "Final Fantasy VII Remake" game and the "Intergrade" expansion.

All of this may sound rather confusing, but that's because the publisher, Square Enix, is seriously muddying the waters with so many editions across multiple platforms. The important thing to note is that, at least for now, Final Fantasy VII Remake is a PlayStation exclusive title.
