Mario Golf: Super Rush is the first time we've seen Mario pick up a club since 2014. The Mario Golf series has enjoyed a cult following among Nintendo fans thanks to its tight gameplay, colorful aesthetic, and RPG-like elements. It is also intrinsically appealing to see Mario's quirky characters enter the world of golf in a somber and serious way.

In any case, "Mario Golf: Super Rush" is an upcoming title on the Nintendo Switch. This will be the first title in the series since "Mario Golf: World Tour," which was released seven years ago on the 3DS. The game will be released shortly, and many details are known about the game, including its release date and the characters that will appear in it. A recently released trailer shows off what fans can expect, from the look of the playable heroes to the innovative and chaotic "Speed Golf" mode.

The easy part. Mario Golf: Super Rush will debut for the Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2021. The game can be purchased physically or digitally and will cost $60 either way. There appears to be no special pre-order bonus or collector's edition.

It can be purchased at the usual stores, including Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop.

Thanks to a recent trailer, we have a pretty good idea of the playable characters in Mario Golf: Super Rush. Nintendo has so far revealed 16 characters for Mario Golf: Super Rush:

Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong, and all the other usual characters. King Bob-On, a familiar boss from Super Mario 64, also makes an appearance. Chargin' Chuck is another unconventional choice, because he is designed to look like a football player, not a golfer. But if dinosaurs and nymphs are acceptable for a gentleman's sport, I think Chargin' Chuck is too.

Nintendo first announced Mario Golf: Super Rush during a Nintendo Direct livestream this past February. We got to experience a bit of the gameplay, including an introduction to "Spped Golf," a bizarre real-time competitive mode where players compete to see who can reach the hole first.

On May 17, a more extensive trailer was released, revealing more of the game's cast. We also got a look at Battle Golf, which seems to be something not seen in buttoned-down golf sims:

Battle Golf is perhaps the big draw in this trailer. In this mode, players play against each other Speed Golf-style on dangerous platforms with additional restrictions. It looks like the kind of blistering multiplayer fun that Nintendo likes to include in its Mario sports games.
