DC is revving up the Bat-engine for Michael Keaton's return to Batman Following the DCEU Batman played by Ben Affleck and Bruce Wayne played by Robert Pattinson (the "Batman" movie will be a stand-alone film), first announced in January of this year, there will be a third man with a cape and cowl protecting Gotham
And a bit of fun today, Andy Muschietti, director of the film "The Flash," shared a reminder that the old Batman is coming back Muschietti's Instagram post (embedded below) has no caption It just has a slightly retro Batman logo stained in blood
Eagle-eyed Bat-fans will notice a difference when comparing the Caped Crusader image above to the logo below The new logo appears to be stretched a bit and is not as wide However, the yellow background behind the Batman crest definitely suggests Keaton's return as the "World's Greatest Detective"
But it also raises the big question: whose blood is on Batman's hands, or armor?
Batman is notorious for avoiding killing villains (in many of his incarnations), often choosing instead to imprison them in Arkham Asylum
Certainly, Batman does not need to kill anyone in blood, but the blood aesthetic in the logo feels like a reference to the iconic "Watchmen" cover
Could this blood be from another Batman? Ben Affleck is rumored to be leaving the DC movie world, so this could be a sign that he is on the verge
The movie "The Flash," to be released in November 2022, will link the realities of the DC Universe: there is speculation that this will be done in a similar way to the comic book series "Flashpoint," which utilized the time-traveling abilities of speedy Barry Allen
Whatever method "The Flash" movie takes, it will bring Ben Affleck's Batman and Michael Keaton's Batman into contact I can't wait to see the outcome of that
If this all sounds familiar, it is a major upcoming trend in superhero movies Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange: The Madness Multiverse are also expected to explore a fused reality In addition to old villains like Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus (who has already announced his return), Spider-Man 3 is widely rumored to feature the return of previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield
This, of course, leads one to wonder if The Flash and Batman and company will have to deal with villains that duplicate their own Only time will tell
