E3 2021PC Game Show Summary: Dying Light 2, Orcs Must Die 3, Gabe Newell and more

The PC Gaming Show at E3 2021 is the latest in what has quickly become an annual live stream.Tom's Guide first covered the PC Gaming Show in 2015, and since then the show has grown considerably, but still remains fairly niche, with some mainstream and and focuses on a variety of creative PC games.

With over 40 games on display this year, it would take an entire game show to cover each of them in depth. However, we can comment on some of the highlights of the PC Gaming Show: new story information on Dying Light 2, the release of Orcs Must Die 3 on platforms other than Google Stadia, and Valve's head of Gabe Newell's words about Steam Next Fest, etc.

Dying Light was released in 2015 and became a cult favorite, combining a "zombie infested city" story with inventive parkour gameplay, a meaningful day/night cycle, and an ambitious storyline. Dying Light 2 will be released on December 7, 2021, and we know a few things about how the game will begin. The game's protagonist is a man named Aiden, who lost his sister Mia in a fire when he was a child. Finding out what happened to Mia is part of the story; making a community of survivors thrive in a harsh world is another story.

Orcs Must Die 3 was a timed exclusive on Google Stadia. While this was good news for Stadia fans who wanted their own personalized game, it was not so good news for fans of the first two games who already had powerful PCs. Now, "Orcs Must Die 3" (an action/strategy game in which players set up a complex maze of traps to confront a rampaging orc horde) will be released on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox on July 23. In addition to a new story campaign, the game will also feature a large outdoor map for the first time in the series.

Gabe Newell is the president and co-founder of Valve, the company behind popular franchises such as Steam, Half-Life and Portal. Before you ask: No, Newell did not announce Half-Life 3. But he did announce the Steam Next Fest, which will take place on Steam from June 16 to June 22. The content is pretty simple: log into Steam on these dates and you can play hundreds of game demos for free and see what's next from promising indie developers.

While it is impossible to list every game exhibited at the PC Gaming Show, we would like to take this opportunity to highlight a few potentially interesting titles. If you have a gaming PC, these titles should be of interest to you. If not, many of them will also be available on consoles.

E3 2021 still has a few days left.
