Update: LG's OLED TVs now natively support Google Stadia.

LG's lineup of OLED TVs continues to dominate the top of our Best TV Roundups year-over-year, and for good reason. The picture is great, the rollout of new features through software updates is excellent. And for those with an Xbox Series X and a PC, LG's OLED area is about to get even better.

LG announced that it is rolling out firmware version 3.15.27 for the C1 and G1 2021 OLED models starting today (June 23), as reported by FlatpanelsHD. This new feature will enable Dolby Vision at 120 Hz, which will not only make gameplay look vibrant and rich, but also buttery smooth. The company expects to release beta updates for other 2021 models within the next month.

Fortunately, users of the 2020 CX and GX OLED models will also receive a Dolby Vision 120Hz update, which will be available later this year.

For 2019 models like the OLED C9, an LG representative told FlatplanelsHD that the company is "considering" the possibility of introducing this feature.

The new update will also add color options (purple, orange, and green) to the game optimizer menu. It's modest, but no loss: a new game dashboard menu for webOS 6.0 is also on the way, with more optimizations. Gamers will also no longer have to manually switch between AMD FreeSynch and Dolby Vision. With this update, both features will remain on at the same time.

At this time, the Xbox Series X is the only console that supports this feature; the PS5 does not yet support Dolby Vision, only HDR. Sony has stated that Dolby Vision support will be provided through a future software update. Dolby Vision 120Hz capability is already available for Xbox Insider testers as part of the invitation-only Alpha Ring program.

This feature is clearly not exclusive to LG; FlatpanelsHD has contacted both Sony and Panasonic regarding Dolby Vision 120Hz support. Sony stated that they have no plans to announce anything at this time, while Panasonic stated that due to hardware limitations, their 2021 models do not support Dolby Vision 120Hz.
