Amazon appears to be holding off on the lowest price for AirPods post-Prime Day; Amazon is currently selling Apple's premium headphones at the lowest price ever.

For a limited time, the AirPods Max are on sale for $489. That's $60 less than on Prime Day and $30 less than on Only three colors are available at this price: pink, space gray, and sky blue. Either way, it's one of the best Apple products we've seen.

This is the first time we've seen the AirPods Max on sale in 2021, but not the first price cut. A few days before Christmas, TigerDirect reduced the price of the AirPods Max by $49. This was a very unusual and short-lived deal.

The AirPods Max come in fun color variations; the AirPods Max feature rotating ear cups covered in oval-shaped memory foam that create a spongy seal around the ear.

In our review of the AirPods Max, we found that the Apple Buds offer excellent sound. The steady bass line of Kendrick Lamar's "Humble" sounded deep and the rapper could be heard enunciating his words clearly. Indeed, the Sony WH-1000XM4 is equally clear, but does not offer the same degree of clarity.

I was also impressed with Apple's Spatial Audio. This is essentially surround sound for headsets, supporting 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos video content. It uses built-in head tracking to make the sound relative to what is on the screen when watching video on an iPhone or iPad.

A few months into our review, we are still impressed with the active noise cancellation of these headphones. Yes, they are pricey, but they are the best headphones Apple has ever made.
