Mint Mobile is getting off to a fast start with a July 4 sale. This virtual mobile network operator (MVNO) is offering one of the best deals we've seen so far.

As of today only, Mint Mobile is offering 25 years of unlimited service for just $8.33 per month ($100 per year). They charge $2,500 up front, but you don't have to worry about paying your cell phone bill for 25 years. The Bobby Bonilla plan (as the company calls it) includes unlimited talk, text, and 4GB of 5G data per month. (Data speeds slow down when the 4GB limit is exceeded, but data remains unlimited.) Also included are free mobile hotspot and free calls to Canada and Mexico. This is one of Mint Mobile's best plans.

This spectacular Mint Mobile deal is a partnership between former New York Mets star Bobby Bonilla and Mint Mobile. Each July 1, Bobby Bonilla receives $1.19 million from the New York Mets. Bonilla and the New York Mets settled on this deal in 2000, when Bonilla was released from his contract after a disappointing season. At the time, the Mets owed him $5.6 million, but instead of paying it, they signed him to a contract that would pay him $1.19 million on July 1 of each year from 2011 to 2035.

Bonilla is now partnering with Mint Mobile to offer a similar unprecedented deal for its wireless customers. New members who sign up today will receive 25 years of service for $8.33 per month. Subscribers will be charged $100 per year ($99.96) for 25 years. This is one of the best cell phone plans we have seen this year.

Mint Mobile is an MVNO that operates on the T-Mobile network; T-Mobile is a GSM-based network, so you will need a GSM-based cell phone to use with Mint Mobile. Like most prepaid wireless networks, Mint Mobile makes some compromises to offer its cheap prices. Customer support is not always readily available, and data speeds are not always the fastest. Nevertheless, if you can put up with occasional data slowdowns and having to go to the community forums to solve problems yourself, Mint won't let you down.
