Battlefield 2042 Technical Play Test starts next week - here's how to apply

The technical alpha test for [Battlefield 2042] will begin next week.

The test will take place between August 12 and 16 and will be available for only three hours each day. Participants will be placed under a strict confidentiality agreement. This means that, unlike the recent technical preview of "Halo Infinite," testers will not be able to upload footage or share details of their game play.

To participate, they must create an EA Playtesting account, after which an invitation to the "Battlefield 2042" technical playtest will be sent to a selected group. Unfortunately, according to EA, only a handful of applicants will be selected, and there is no way to guarantee participation.

Some lucky players have already received an email invitation, which states: "This technical playtest will focus on gathering information about core gameplay loops, technical performance and stability. This will all be done in a closed environment and under strict NDA."

You won't want to miss this playtest.

The playtest will take place on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. The technical playtest was originally scheduled for July, but was pushed back to August because developer DICE wanted to further test the cross-play capabilities of Battlefield 2042.

Those who were unable to attend will be pleased to know that a large beta is scheduled for September. Access to the beta is gained by pre-ordering the game. By comparison, participating in the beta is much easier than the technical playtest.

With Battlefield 2042 currently scheduled for release on October 22, there is plenty of reason to be excited about the upcoming online shooter. More information about the game will be released in the coming weeks as the release date approaches, including the game's recently revealed PC requirements and details about the mysterious "Hazard Zone" game mode.
