The Sims 4 is getting free content updates, but there is a catch

A free content update is available for The Sims 4. However, only if you have the "Spa Day" game pack, which was released in 2015.

Those who have not been using the fan-made mods will have been waiting for something new to do in "The Sims 4" since the "Country Living" pack was released in July. But this "Spa Day" update includes new wellness-focused aspirations for Sims, such as "Zen Master," "Self-Care Specialist," and "Inner Peace." In addition, new activities have been added: manicures, pedicures, and face masks.

Nail art is a long-awaited feature of The Sims 4, and many have turned to mods to add it to the game. It does not seem like something that the developers of "The Sims 4" would have done enough to add themselves. In particular, many longtime fans thought that "The Sims 4" lacked content compared to previous installments in the series. However, one cannot complain about new things being added to the game. Especially if it is free (well, if you already bought the Spa Day DLC).

What we really want is something brand new, especially something that can't be easily added to the game with mods. However, with EA telling us that they are working on a new Sims game, it is unclear if The Sims 4 will continue to receive much support in the years leading up to its release.

The "Country Living" pack mentioned earlier came at a good time to revitalize interest in the game, but prior to this, EA tended to release one or two expansion packs for The Sims 4 per year.

Of course, we hope that "The Sims 4" will continue to bring new content and upgrades until the next release in the series. However, we are willing to sacrifice development time for "The Sims 5" as long as it offers enough content to provide a well-rounded experience that many felt was not the case with "The Sims 4" at the time of its release.

The development costs of triple-A games are continually getting higher, and studios must do what they can to subsidize this. However, consumers are starting to get fed up with releasing games with little content at full price and locking "additional" features behind paid DLC.
