Still refrain from buying a Nintendo switch - here's why

The Nintendo Switch OLED is about to be released, and if you're wondering if the Nintendo Switch is worth buying, we have good news for you.

This comes from a tweet from regular tipster Nintend'Alerts, who says that a price cut will take place in France as early as next week, reducing the price of Nintendo's four-year-old console from €329 to €270.

Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when and if the same price cuts will spread around the world. However, it would not be surprising if other retailers follow the same pattern. After all, it is not uncommon for leading products to be cheaper ahead of their launch.

This would be huge, as it would be the first time the console has officially taken such a price cut since its launch in 2017, potentially saving customers nearly $60 overall.

It is unclear if the price change will be permanent, as there is talk of the new OLED model completely replacing the base console.

Nintendos users will agree that playing games on this console can often cost more than one might think. In fact, considering both the price of the hardware and the best Nintendo Switch games, gaming on the Switch could be even more expensive than on other next-generation consoles like the PS5 or the Xbox Series X.

The price of the Switch is also likely to be higher than that of the PS5. And even if they do go on sale, the price reductions are usually not very large.

Since the Nintendo Switch's OLED was announced, many gamers have been left frustrated because of the arguably inadequate upgrades the console received. The new console got a slightly larger OLED touchscreen, more expandable storage, and a wired LAN connection.

Not that the newly introduced features weren't exciting, but in light of the Nintendo Switch Pro rumors flying around at the time, many of us had a hard time managing our expectations.

However, the Nintendo Switch Pro may be years away, and it is not clear enough to say for sure whether or not it will appear. However, if you are holding off on purchasing the base model, it may be worth waiting a little longer to see if a price cut will actually take place in your area.
