Lenovo already produces gaming phones that are powerful enough to require built-in fans, so the idea of a dedicated Android gaming device is not so far-fetched.

Now, it appears that Lenovo has (or had) plans for a gaming handheld to compete with the Nintendo Switch's OLED, as first spotted by Liliputing's Brad Linder (h/t Gizmodo) Legion Play was scheduled to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2021 earlier this year. How did Linder know about it?Looking at the source code on Lenovo's German and Japanese sites, he found a description of the product and some images.

"Designed for AAA gaming, the Lenovo Legion Play is the first Android cloud gaming console. The console allows users to play hundreds of cloud games, stream their game library, and play mobile games...7" 16:9 FHD bezel-less display, HDR 10, built-in controller, dual speakers, dual vibration, and a 7000mAh battery for the best gaming experience. Our developer program is open to all game developers. It will be available soon in select markets."

The Lenovo Legion Play really does look like a mix between a Steam Deck and a Nintendo Switch; Lenovo describes it as "bezel-less," but it clearly isn't, with the markings of a solid portable device.

Unlike both the Steam Deck and Switch, the Legion Play will feature a full HD display. It may also feature HDR 10, dual speakers, dual vibration, and a 7,000 mAh battery.

Unfortunately, there is no information on the specs of the supposed handheld. However, it is likely to have a powerful Qualcomm SoC, such as that found in the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Oddly enough, according to Liliputing, Lenovo's MWC 2021 site also had images of the Legion 2 Pro gaming phone, titled the Legion Phone Duel H2O. This concept phone has 18GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and a huge water cooling block on the back. It does not look practical at all.
