Black Friday Deals are Coming to Lego — What You Need to Know

While LEGO is not known for offering discounts, the Black Friday sales season is a whole different ballgame. That means lots of offers, specials, and possible discounts.

Lego has already kicked things off this weekend by offering double VIP points on all purchases.

The main benefit of buying on Black Friday is the latest "Gift with Purchase" promotion: spend $140 and you can build your own "Santa's Vestibule" complete with Christmas tree, reindeer, and elves. Spend $40 or more at any LEGO store during Black Friday and receive a miniature Christmas tree set.

And if you have the money, the new $800 AT-AT from "The Empire Strikes Back" comes with an assembled model of Luke Skywalker's lightsaber.

But that's not all. Lego also promises that there will be discounts on select Lego sets and VIP perks. The company never reveals in advance what these sets are, which has been a bit disappointing over the past few years. However, there is still a chance that the set you've had your eye on will be reduced in price on rare occasions.

Similarly, VIPs get even more points, but the discount has only been confirmed for Cyber Monday, where a $5 money-off voucher is 455 VIP points instead of the usual 650 VIP points. On Cyber Monday, there is also a chance to receive a free Lego-themed fleece blanket with any purchase of $200 or more.

Finally, Lego will hold its annual VIP sweepstakes, with 1 million VIP points up for grabs. This large number of points can be redeemed for discounts worth $7,600, with a few points still left at the end. In addition, since one dollar spent earns 6.5 points, one would need to spend $153,847 to earn all the points in the usual way.

If you are not a VIP member, it is worth signing up. It's all free, and LEGO will give you a blue minifig keychain when you join; you can read more about VIP and LEGO's Black Friday plans on the LEGO Store website.

Of course, you don't have to buy directly from the LEGO Store. Those retailers have already started their Black Friday sales and you can enjoy Black Friday LEGO deals.

However, keep an eye out for more deals to come. LEGO is expensive, so every little bit of savings is worth taking advantage of.
