Of all the TV-related products presented at CES 2022, the 42-inch OLED TV is probably the most attractive. The popular C series will be the smallest TV ever to feature an OLED panel, but it can also be seen as a large high-end monitor.

Indeed, the 42-inch LG C2 OLED TV, which was announced at last year's CES but postponed for reasons unknown, is the model many have been waiting for. The set will include most of the premium features found on larger models, including an HDMI 2.1 port, 120Hz refresh rate, and LG's latest Alpha 9 Gen 5 Processor 4K.

The LG C1 OLED TV is currently the best gaming TV you can buy, but its smallest configuration is 48 inches, which is tiny by OLED standards, but a significant choice in the larger TV market.

This is mere speculation, as LG has not announced an official price or release date for the 42" C2 OLED TV. What we do know is that it will inherit the famous gaming features found on the best LG TVs, but with a new trick this year. The "Game Optimizer" menu will be improved in 2022, with a "Dark Room Mode" to support eye health during prolonged gaming in low-light conditions; FPS, RPG, and other Game Optimizer presets will be added, as well as a sports gaming preset

LG will also continue to support Nvidia G-Sync, Nvidia GeForce Now beta, AMD FreeSync, and variable refresh rate (VRR)

The 42-inch LG C2 OLED TV will come in a larger C2 configuration We mentioned that most, but not all, of the premium features will be included; the 42" and 48" will not feature the OLED evo panels found on the rest of the C2 series. We first tested OLED evo on the LG G1 OLED TV and saw no significant differences, but this technology is being tweaked this year.

Still, it is great news that the smallest OLED TV in history is finally a reality, especially since it is part of the best TV line in the past three years. If anything, this may be one of the reasons why C2 OLEDs are truly an improvement over C1 OLEDs.

While LG may be shrinking its OLED screens, Samsung is trying to shake it up with new QD-OLED displays.
