Adobe's new home security camera costs justテ35

The prices of the best home security cameras continue to drop. And now, another affordable option from Adobe has arrived. The latest is the new Abode Cam 2, which costs only $29.99 and supports 24/7 video recording. What's more, you don't need to own Abode's home security kit to use this camera.

Here's what we know about the camera, which is available for pre-order today and will ship in April.

The Abode Cam 2 is available for an introductory price of $29.99 and will ship in April.

The Abode Cam 2 is similar to the Wyze Cam v3, another one of the best home security cameras. Both look like small cubes with extendable pedestals; like the Wyze Cam, the Abode Cam 2 has Wi-Fi, but it is not a true wireless camera like the Arlo or Blink, as it needs to be connected to a power source to operate. [Like most security cameras, the Abode Cam 2 can record video in 1080p resolution. The horizontal viewing angle is a good 121 degrees, but a bit narrower than the 130 degrees of the Wyze Cam v3. the Abode Cam 2 also has a Starlight sensor that allows for color night vision and is IP65 rated so it can withstand the weather.

Also, like most home security cameras, a subscription is required to take advantage of all of the Abode Cam 2's features (such as video storage). The Standard plan ($6/month or $60/year) allows for 7 days of video storage. The Pro plan ($20/month or $200/year) allows for 30 days of storage.

Both plans also unlock Smart Detect, which notifies users when a person is detected on any video device in any dwelling unit. Package and pet detection will be available later this year.

The Abode Cam 2 works as a stand-alone device, but can also be integrated into Abode Iota and Abode Smart Home Security systems. When the camera detects an intruder, it can trigger other connected smart home devices. In addition, a smart display, such as an Echo Show or Nest Hub Max, would be able to view the live feed from the camera.

Of course, it all comes down to video quality. We hope to get a camera and test it out fairly soon, so stay tuned for a review.
