Apple Watch 6 Leak reveals sleep tracking, kids mode and many more

According to the leaked iOS 14 code, it looks like the Apple Watch Series 6 and watchOS 7 will add a lot of new faces and some really useful features, new features that are always added with every new OS release.

According to graphics and text in the latest iOS 14 beta codebase obtained by 9to5Mac, watchOS 7 adds many features that the new Apple Watch Series 6 may or may not need. Yesterday we learned about the new Apple Watch 6's blood oxygen levels and enhanced ECG monitoring, but there is more.

9to5mac reports on new face features that go beyond new design additions. First, the new face feature allows users to create their own custom faces as well as share them with other Apple Watch users.

We know this is done from the Face Gallery app on the iPhone, but there is no evidence of direct face sharing from one watch to another. We do know, however, that the face design is stored as a separate file and can be distributed via any medium. This logically opens the door for third parties to create and distribute their own designs, but it is not clear how easy this would be.

9to5mac confirmed earlier rumors of a new sleep tracking feature for the Apple Watch. iOS 14 beta code indicates that this long-requested health feature may be coming in watchOS 7.

The iPhone Health app will use information tracked by the Apple Watch to give recommendations on how to improve sleep and set sleep goals.

Another addition in the face department is the Infograph Pro face, which adds a new tachymeter element. The tachymeter is a classic complication used to calculate the average speed of an object along a known distance. It can also be used to calculate distances as long as the constant velocity of the object is known.

It is very simple to use. To calculate speed, start the chronometer at the starting point and stop it at the end of the known distance. On the road, simply click start when you see the kilometer marker and stop the chronograph when you see the next marker. If the second hand stopped at, say, 145, your average speed was 145 km/h.

The third facial element is the ability to design a face using an image from a photo, as shown in the photo at the top of this article. Three types of images can be used: individual photos, albums, and shared albums. The latter two can be used to set up a face so that the photo switches every time the clock is viewed.

Another big push, according to the report, is the management of children's watches connected to a single iPhone. Previously, only one paired Apple Watch could be used at a time, even if multiple pairings were allowed. With the new software, parents will be able to manage multiple watches for their children on a single iPhone without restrictions.

Not only that, but management will include individual parental controls similar to those found in Screen Time for iOS and iPadOS. This includes something called Schooltime, which allows parents to limit the use of complications and apps during personalized times so that their children are not distracted by school or homework.

New controls also include trusted contacts and playable music.
