Season 6 of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds has come to an end and PUBG Season 7 has arrived. This substantial update has been available for the PC version for a few days now, but today (April 28) it will also be available for the console version. Season 7 introduces a variety of new features, including bots for console players, moving trains on fan-favorite maps, and even (additional) dinosaurs in the revamped theme park.

The information comes from the official PUBG website, where the developer details each new change that Season 7 brings: For those who have never played PUBG, it is one of the original games in the "battle royale" genre, where 100 players map and compete to be the last one standing. The longer you live, the more currency you earn, which you can then use to outfit your character with cooler clothes and weapons. It's a simple loop, but a satisfying one.

PUBG Season 7 is available for PC players on April 22, 2020, and for PS4 and Xbox One players on April 28, 2020 You can download it now on any of the three platforms.

The PUBG Season 7 trailer details the gameplay changes and new features fans can expect in the coming months. Some of the key features detailed below include revamped locations, a train that can travel around the map, and a colorful collection of dinosaur-themed gear.

First and foremost, Vikendi makes a return in Season 7. It is a popular map where players compete on the snowy tundra; the PUBG team has adjusted (and readjusted) the amount of snow on the map and moved many cities and landmarks. However, the most striking change to the Vikendi map came in the form of a moving train.

This train runs from one end of Vikendi to the other, offering a variety of possibilities. Of course, players can use it to move from one place to another if they can fight off other players with the same idea. They can also set up ambushes at stations where trains occasionally stop to let passengers on and off. Cars and motorcycles can also be used, which could make the interaction of multiple types of vehicles very interesting.

Another change to the Vikendi map is Dinoland, a future prehistoric park. On the old Vikendi map, players could compete in a relatively small and bleak abandoned amusement park known as Dino Park. The entire area has been extensively and colorfully renovated to create a Disney-esque Dinoland. There are more complex rides, more varied buildings, and yes, more elaborate dinosaur statues. Players will probably want to check this out for themselves, but staying alive while doing so can be tricky.

An addition for console players is the introduction of bots into public matches; PUBG is a highly competitive game with a high skill ceiling, so new players may not always be able to blend in easily. With the Season 7 update, inexperienced PS4 and Xbox One players may start to see AI-controlled bots filling some of the 100-person free-for-alls. Of course, these bots won't simply roll over and absorb gunfire, but they won't be as smart or skilled as human players. This should help new players gain confidence as they learn their skills.

In addition, Season 7 offers several other new challenges for both PC and console players, including goal-oriented missions to earn XP and equipment. There is also a new Mosin-Nagant rifle to replace the old Kar98k, as well as many bug fixes and UI enhancements.

Additionally, there is new equipment to collect, including a Dinoland t-shirt and a Baby Bear sleep mask. Most of these are time-limited and will be replaced with new equipment between late spring and mid-summer.

The updates are free, and to get them, simply load the game. (If you don't have the latest patch, you won't be able to connect, so you'll know right away if the update has been installed.) Just don't be surprised if it takes a little longer than usual to download, as many companies are limiting their Internet speeds due to COVID-19 concerns.
