PS5DualSense controller can get this huge upgrade

Sony's PS5 may be able to wirelessly charge DualSense controllers, according to an updated patent.

The application for "Wireless charging adapter with game control keys for computer game controllers" was spotted by Inverse (via ScreenRant) and is, in essence, an It is an updated version of a similar patent for a DualShock 4 controller. It is also an enhanced version of the already existing "back button attachment" released in late 2019.

The illustration shows a controller attachment that adds two additional buttons to the lower center of the back of the controller, similar to where you would find paddles on certain third-party controllers and accessories. Between these buttons is a built-in wireless charging coil, allowing the controller to draw power from a wireless charging pad rather than a cable connection.

One of the illustrations shows the controller being placed on top of the PlayStation console while it is charging. This would presumably be a charging mat accessory that could be placed on top of the console. However, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Sony will integrate a charging coil into the PS5 to allow for easy charging of the controller.

Wireless charging is a premium feature typically found in smartphones. Due to the cost of its implementation, Sony is likely considering it only as a separate accessory rather than adding it to the controller by default. the PS5 is rumored to cost around $500, making the console itself quite expensive compared to the PS4, which had a launch price of $399. It is likely to be.

We may see more details about the dual-sense controller and the PS5 at the PS5 event on June 4. However, Sony has stated that this showcase will be focused on gaming.

Expect to hear more details about the console's gaming power, including custom SSDs, graphics with support for ray tracing, and 3D audio, as well as details about what exclusive games will be available at launch. However, with the Xbox Series X also scheduled for frequent announcements this summer, Sony will be under pressure to provide an impressive showcase that will keep Microsoft's next-generation console at bay.
