Galaxy Bud X and Galaxy Watch 3 confirmed by Samsung App

Samsung's Galaxy Buds X wireless earbuds will indeed be bean-shaped, as confirmed by the new Galaxy Wearable app. And the app also confirms that Samsung's next smartwatch will be the Galaxy Watch 3. [XDA Developers found an asset from the Galaxy Wearable app that points to the Galaxy Watch 3 name, indicating that the next Galaxy Buds will feature the previously leaked bean design. The asset does not shed much light on the product itself, but at least it reveals that there is a new wearable from Samsung.

The Galaxy Buds X, or Galaxy Buds 2, promises to be a decent upgrade over the Galaxy Buds Plus. The next Samsung earbuds promise active noise cancellation and improved overall sound, plus a set of fitness features, including a fitness guide that tracks mileage, calories burned, and heart rate changes.

The change from a circular aesthetic design to a bean-like shape could further enhance the earbuds' comfort and make them easier to wear when exercising outdoors or at the gym. However, competition is stiff on our best wireless earbuds list, so the Galaxy Buds X may need to pull something more out of its sleeve to compete with the likes of the AirPods Pro.

We had already heard that Samsung's next smartwatch could be called the Galaxy Watch 3 instead of the Watch 2. But the Galaxy Wearables app confirms it and helps give weight to the rumors we've seen so far.

Information so far suggests that the Galaxy Watch 3 will be available in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm, shaving 1mm off the previous Galaxy Watch model. More interesting, however, is the return of a rotating bezel that can be used to navigate the smartwatch's user interface. We have used such a rotating bezel before and have found that it works rather well on circular smartwatches and avoids the need for precise tapping on a small screen worn on the wrist.

Other specs expected from the Galaxy Watch 3 include onboard GPS, 8GB of storage capacity, 5ATM-rated water resistance, and a Gorilla Glass DX display to withstand the rigors of everyday life. Blood pressure monitoring may also move from the Galaxy Watch Active 2 to the Galaxy Watch 3, and health tracking may be enhanced.

With the Apple Watch 6 rumored to arrive this year with features such as blood oxygen monitoring and stress tracking, Samsung will need to pull out all the stops with the Galaxy Watch 3 to compete with Apple's class-leading smartwatch.
