Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 firmware has been spotted online, revealing a number of key features of the next-generation wearable, including a refreshed UI, Spotify integration, storage specifications, and cycle tracking.

While Samsung has yet to announce the Galaxy Watch 3, over the past few weeks we have seen a number of leaks that hint at its arrival. And with the thread of firmware details provided by Max Weinbach via Twitter, we are really starting to see how the Tizen OS-powered smartwatch will shape up.

Most of Weinbach's information about the Galaxy Watch 3 is about UI and software upgrades; Samsung's Email app has been replaced by Microsoft Outlook, the new shopping bag icon has been Galaxy App Store has been redesigned, or that there will be a dedicated Samsung Store app.

As for music, the Player app has a new look, and Winebag confirms that the Galaxy Watch 3 will come with 8GB of onboard storage that can be used to store songs for offline playback; the Apple Watch Series While not quite as large as the 32GB of the 5, the 8GB is significantly larger than the 4GB of the original Galaxy Watch.

The Spotify app is also preinstalled in the U.S. Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming services, but it can be removed by the user. Nevertheless, the fact that Spotify is on the Galaxy Watch 3 suggests smooth integration and perhaps additional benefits for Spotify subscribers.

Learning from last year's watchOS 6 update, Samsung will include cycle tracking on the Galaxy Watch. While Apple has not reinvented the wheel with its cycle tracking program, it is a welcome tool for women seeking predictions and notifications about their periods. With its own cycle tracking app, Samsung may be trying to catch up to Apple in the health field ahead of the Apple Watch 6 launch.

However, the Samsung Health Monitor app will only be pre-installed in Korea, where Samsung's blood pressure sensor and ECG monitor have reportedly recently received approval from the MFDS. As far as we know, neither has been accepted by the FDA, which means that these health features will not be available to US users.

Weinbach offers a few other tidbits about the Galaxy Watch 3, including that the weather app now shows a background that matches the current conditions and a calendar app that shows a preview of the week ahead.

The Galaxy Watch 3 will be available in Bluetooth and LTE variants and in 41mm and 45mm case sizes. Each model will feature a Gorilla Glass DX display, 5ATM grade water resistance, military-grade durability, and GPS.

Pricing has not yet been announced, but the first Galaxy Watch started at $329, with LTE models up to $400.

More details on the Galaxy Watch 3 will be coming soon, and Evan Blass has suggested July 22 as the release date. We have previously heard that the Watch 3 and Samsung Galaxy Buds Live will launch earlier than the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2, which will launch on August 5.
