Apple Glasses AR lenses are still more than a year away, but a new concept video gives us hope for their potential.

This video by "the hacker 34" (via iMore) showcases the rumored features of Apple Glasses. Although there is basically no concrete information other than leaks, the video makes Apple Glasses look like a concrete product.

Cards like the one currently used to pair AirPods pop up, and the Hacker 34 has a Retina lens display, a LiDAR scanner like the one on the iPad Pro (and possibly the iPhone 12 Pro), and a A breakdown of familiar Apple-branded components, including a new kind of Apple chipset, the G-series.

The rOS, which Hacker 34 named Glasses' operating system, uses swipes to navigate the heads-up display-style interface, either on the frame or in front where Glasses' camera is visible.

iOS 14-style widgets and unobtrusive notifications appear here, featuring all the usual suspects when it comes to default Apple apps. This is important because wearing it in front of your face makes it impossible to look away from an overly bright screen.

Find My iPhone and Apple Maps navigation are shown off in the video, the former allowing users to ask Siri to show where the phone is, and set a path towards it. We expect Apple to unveil the AirTags tracker to the world by the end of the year. It would serve a similar purpose, but doing it in first person with this concept looks pretty cool. The map function would work the same way, except that you would be heading to a geographic location with arrows overlapping your view.

There is also a "Steve Jobs Edition" teaser at the end of the video, which replaces the square frames of the regular glasses with round frames similar to those worn by Apple's famous co-founder. As a final little joke, a message from Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, revealed that the glasses will cost $499. This is the figure revealed by Jon Prosser of FrontPage Tech.

The actual time frame for the Apple Glasses is said to be between mid-2021 and 2023; whenever the Apple Glasses appear, we hope they are as high-performance as the ones shown in the Hacker 34 video.
