In addition to new smartwatches, tablets, and smartphones, Samsung may soon release a new fitness tracker. A diagram of the new device, which may be the successor to the Galaxy Fit, a slim fitness tracker that Samsung released last year, has been revealed in a filing with the FCC.

The FCC filing, discovered by SamMobile, shows a diagram of the underside of the upcoming device, which is rectangular in shape and has what appear to be two contacts for charging and a notch in the center for heart rate monitoring.

The tracker's model number, SM-R220, is similar to that of the Galaxy Fit (SM-R370), which was recently marked as discontinued on Samsung's website, further reinforcing the idea that a successor will be introduced.

At the time of its launch, Samsung's Galaxy Fit cost $99, much cheaper than its direct competitor, the Fitbit Charge 3, which was in the $130-$150 price range at the time. The new Galaxy Fit, whatever it is called, is expected to be priced similarly to the previous model. [This is larger than the Galaxy Fit (120mAh) and the Galaxy Fit e (70mAh).

Like these models, we expect the new Samsung fitness tracker to have a color AMOLED touchscreen and 165-foot water resistance; as evidenced by the FCC filing, this device will have Bluetooth for syncing with smartphones Low Energy, but there is no mention of GPS, which was the killer feature of Fitbit's latest tracker, the Fitbit Charge 4.
