Need a new gaming headset for your PS5 or Xbox Series X? This new headset is compatible with both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, while also being mobile compatible.

The Audeze Penrose is a unique mix of wired and wireless audio that is expected to work with both next-generation consoles (via The Verge) It will be available in September for $299, but if you pre-order now you can get it down to $249.

The headset is available in two versions, distinguished only by the color scheme and the adapter dongle included in the box. The standard blue version works with PS5 and PS4, Windows 10 and macOS, while the green "Penrose X" version works with Windows 10, but is designed specifically for the Xbox Series X and Xbox One series. Both versions also appear to work on the Nintendo Switch.

These are also wireless headphones and can use the Bluetooth 5.0 standard; what makes the Penrose unique is that it can use wireless capabilities as soon as it is connected. This theoretically allows for convenient multitasking, such as listening to music stored on a cell phone or answering a voice call while playing it.

Features common to both headsets include 100mm planar magnetic drivers for powerful sound, a detachable flexible microphone, a choice of USB-C or 3.5mm AUX connector, and separate volume controls for input and output.

They are available in September, so you will be able to get these headphones before the PS5 and Xbox Series X are released around November. the Penrose sound is especially well suited for the PS5. thanks to the clever sound technology built into the console, all headphones and 3D audio on all headphones and speakers. The headset should also work well with Sony's new DualSense controller, which specializes in tactile feedback.

As Microsoft explained in March, the Xbox Series X should also have its own spatial audio, and we look forward to seeing how the Penrose compares to the best gaming headsets when it launches this fall.
