The Xbox Series X's monolithic, upright, boxy, rectangular design looks more like a scaled-down PC than a traditional gaming console; the Xbox One and PS4 can be placed vertically, but horizontal placement is more common.
By comparison, the Xbox Series X is set up to be a console that is often placed vertically, perhaps due to its cooling system that draws air in from the bottom of the console and expels it from the top.
In a thoughtful video, Maniak Gaming shows how the Xbox Series X is taller than the PS4 (an improved slim model) and about the same height as the Xbox One S and Xbox One X.

Also, compared to the original Xbox One, the Xbox Series X appears to be a sleeker, sleeker machine. The original Xbox One unfortunately looks like a chunky VCR, while the rival PS4 has a sharp, angular design that still looks great today.
Ideally, we would like to see a comparison between the Xbox Series X and the PS5, which is rumored to be a chunky gaming console.
The PS5's design has divided opinion, including our own Tom's Guide. However, Microsoft's machine has an understated beauty, elegant in its simplicity.
Regardless of what you think about the design of the Xbox Series X or the PS5, videos like this one only serve to build excitement for the next generation of machines.
Both new systems are favored for a November launch. And with game showcases like Gamescom giving us a look at what we can expect from them, the end of 2020 is shaping up to be very exciting for gaming fans.
