Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Release Date, trailer, multiplayer and pre-order

After months of leaks and teasers, "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" has officially been announced. The next installment in Activision's hugely popular shooter series will take place in the Cold War of the early 1980s and will feature a new single-player campaign as well as the return of Black Ops' familiar multiplayer and zombie modes.

Black Ops Cold War also heralds the series' arrival on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and could be the most technically impressive Call of Duty to date. Here is what we know so far about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, including the release date and the latest trailer.

The Cold War debut trailer sets up the game's storyline, with returning characters Woods, Mason, and Hudson pursuing a mysterious villain named Perseus in the midst of the Cold War. There will also be intense campaign action, a frighteningly realistic Ronald Reagan, and the unveiling of highly anticipated new multiplayer content.

Black Ops Cold War will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC on November 13.

Black Ops Cold War is available for pre-order now on the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, and Battle.net. $90 Ultimate Edition is also available, a cross-gen bundle, three operator skins, three vehicle skins, 3 weapon blueprints, a battle pass bundle, and a confrontation weapon pack.

Pre-ordering gives you early access to the game's open beta, which will begin at an undetermined time.

The Black Ops Cold War multiplayer trailer gives the first look at player versus player action. You will see motorcycles, helicopters, and all types of all-terrain vehicles engage in battle.

Black Ops Cold War promises a return to pure gunplay, with playable operators with unique loadouts and the acrobatic future of recent Black Ops. Classic modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed are present, as are the controls in Black Ops 4.

New modes include VIP Escort, a six-on-six game type in which teams take turns protecting or killing the other team's VIP player. Combined Arms will be larger in scale, with 12 vs. 12 battles featuring snowmobiles, tanks, and many other vehicles. Finally, Fireteam will feature 10 teams of four fighting in a large arena.

The post-launch maps and modes will be free and will have a common progression system with Call of Duty: Warzone, with items and unlocks available in both games.

Black Ops Cold War will also bring back Call of Duty's familiar zombie co-op mode. Details are still unknown, but it is expected to be a more advanced version of the regular four-player co-op mode.

In Black Ops Cold War, players will find themselves in a Cold War geopolitical battle in the 1980s. Players will follow a mysterious villain named Perseus, who is "charged with the mission of destabilizing the balance of power in the world and changing the course of history."

The single-player storyline, which spans locations such as East Berlin, Vietnam, and Soviet KBG headquarters, adds new operatives to the returning characters of Woods, Mason, and Hudson.
