Google Pixel5 images just leaked, there is a big improvement

More leaked actual images of the Pixel 5 have appeared online, giving us another good look at Google's next phone before its arrival at the end of the month.

Mexican tech expert Jose Antonio Ponton, who leaked the first batch of images last week, has updated his Twitter thread with three new shots, which he again claims are of the Pixel 5.

The images all make it very clear that the Pixel 5's bezels are nearly uniform on all four sides of the phone. This is a nice change from the previous generation Pixel, which had a very prominent chin. Good for showing off the phone's pedigree, but ugly to look at.

What you see on the screen is not particularly new, but still interesting to check out. We can see the settings menu, the storage management screen, and the home screen, which features Google's new design.

A punch-hole selfie camera can be seen inside the display. This is another big change, but one that Google has already shown off in the Pixel 4a. This is a big improvement over the bezels on the Pixel 4 series, and one that will help it compete with other popular Android phones like the OnePlus 8 series.

Both the previous leak by Ponton and this leak are named Pixel 5s, not Pixel 5 as expected. This is the first flagship Pixel that is not expected to have an XL version, but Google seems to have other plans for the second model. On a more pessimistic note, the "s" suffix may just refer to a carrier-only Pixel 5, such as the one built for Verizon's mmWave 5G standard.

Google has already announced that it has an event scheduled for October 30, where it will show off the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G, a version of the existing 4a modified to work with the new network standard. Other products like the new Chromecast "Sabrina" are also expected to be unveiled at the event.
