A new leak has hammered out a list of key specifications related to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (or FE for short), which appears to take some key features from Samsung's recent flagships and package them at a more affordable price.

According to the blog Techmaniacs (via PhoneArena), which allegedly obtained these specs from a Greek cell phone company insider, the Galaxy S20 FE will be constructed of a combination of plastic and aluminum and will be IP68 water resistant and headphone jack. The device's 6.5-inch AMOLED Full HD display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, but is not as adaptable as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Depending on who you ask, either the Snapdragon 865 or the new 865 Plus are available to power the Fan Edition along with 6GB of RAM.The Snapdragon 865 Plus CPU is the base Snapdragon 865 processor, making the FE even faster than the standard Galaxy S20. However, as Techmaniacs points out, the international 4G version of this phone will likely use Samsung's LTE-only Exynos 990 silicon.

Unlike the Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus, which feature a 64-megapixel telephoto triple-lens rear camera, the S20 FE is rumored to replace its highly detailed sensor with an 8MP module with 3x optical zoom. Both the primary and ultra-wide-angle lenses are expected to be 12MP.

Techmaniacs also reports a 4,000mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than the 4,500mAh unit leaked by WinFuture earlier this month. It is possible that these specifications are special for the version to be sold in Greece, but at this stage we do not know for sure.

Samsung will probably unveil the Galaxy S20 FE at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked for Every Fan event on September 23. In theory, the Fan Edition will be Samsung's answer to Apple's entry-level iPhone 12, and its price could be around $700, well below the Galaxy S20, which starts at $999. iPhone 12 has a 5.4-inch display The Galaxy S20 FE could be even larger, as it has been repeatedly stated that it will have a 5.4-inch display.

No consensus has yet been reached on the price of the Galaxy S20 FE, but Techmaniacs reports that it will be €729 in Greece. This figure is expected to vary somewhat by region, but nonetheless gives us a rough idea of the segment Samsung is trying to target with this device.
