Google Pixel4a5G spec Leaked – Here's how to stack up to Pixel5

With the Pixel 5 set to be announced a week later at a Google event on September 30, it's easy to forget that another Google phone will be announced at that time. However, a new leak featuring the full specs of the Pixel 4a 5G should serve as a handy reminder that the phone's arrival is imminent.

The leak comes from WinFuture, a German site that posted full Pixel 5 specs earlier this week. From the looks of it, the Pixel 4a 5G will be a mishmash of features from both the Pixel 5 and the $349 Pixel 4a that appeared last month.

Like the Pixel 4a, the 5G version will be made of cheaper polycarbonate, but the display will feature an OLED panel. According to specs, the Pixel 4a 5G screen will be 6.2 inches and, like the regular Pixel 4a, will have a 60 Hz refresh rate; the Pixel 5 is said to have a 90 Hz refresh rate.

The Pixel 4a 5G will feature a Snapdragon 765G system-on-chip including an integrated 5G modem to provide the 5G connectivity promised in the model name. This is an upgrade from the Snapdragon 730G found in the Pixel 4a; like the 4a, the 5G version is expected to feature 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. [Leaked specs indicate that the Pixel 4a 5G's camera will have more in common with the Pixel 5. According to the leaked specs, that means two rear cameras with a 12.2-megapixel main lens plus a 16MP wide-angle shooter. [It's a bit of a surprise that Google would include two lenses on the Pixel 5, which is supposed to be a budget model, especially considering that the Pixel 4 has only one 12MP camera on the back.

However, adding a second lens to the Pixel 4a 5G could justify the promised $499 price of the model, which Google had already announced in August. Since this is $150 more than the Pixel 4a, Google probably felt it had to offer more than a larger screen and 5G connectivity.

Other notable specs included in WinFuture's report list a 3,885 mAh battery for the Pixel 4a 5G, a small increase from the 3,700 mAh battery on last year's Pixel 3a XL. It will also include a headphone jack.

The Pixel 4a 5G is expected to be revealed on September 30 at the same event where Google will unveil the Pixel 5 along with a new Chromecast device and new smart speakers.
