Decomposition of PS5DualSense controller revealed its killer function

If you were lucky enough to get your hands on a new dual-sense controller for the PS5, would you take it apart? Argentinian controller specialist Evzen Elite has done just that.

The controller company posted a number of teardown images of its DualSense controller on Instagram. While it is difficult to glean much new insight about the DualSense controller from these teardown images, they do offer a glimpse into the sophisticated trigger mechanism.

Evzen Elite explained that the former DualShock 4 controller had a relatively simple trigger mechanism, while the DualSense is more advanced. This is to be expected since Sony advertises that DualSense has more advanced haptics and can, for example, feel the tension of a bowstring being pulled in-game.

"In this new version, the simple PS4 trigger has been replaced by a very fast system,"

"The new system is also more advanced than the old one, and the new system is more advanced than the old one.

It now features small actuators that make clicking more complex, depending on the moment [sic] of the game," explains Evzen Elite's Instagram account." The idea is to give players a complete sensory experience along the waves of the game."

"In games with newer weapons, the clicks are lighter. As the weapons get older, the tactile experience changes. The goal is to get the feeling of using an ancient weapon."

Based on this, we can expect to see such tactile features in games with ancient weapons, such as "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" and "Demon's Souls Remake". The technology could also work in games such as "Call of Duty," where the tension of the dual-sense trigger is related to the pressure of the gun's trigger in the game.

Whether the two-tone design of the DualSense controller appeals to you or makes you want to throw it out the window, the controller technology looks quite impressive, as does the design of the PS5 itself. Indeed, the new Xbox wireless controller for the Xbox Series X is a minor upgrade to the previous Xbox controller and appears to be more advanced.

Pre-orders for the PS5 are now open, and the PS5 will be released in the US on November 12. It won't be long until we find out what Sony's new console actually looks like.
